The Second Clause was improved and modified for several reasons…
Reason #1
Some practitioners other than MD/DO are able to independently evaluate patients, order and interpret imaging studies, order medications, and perform invasive procedures and the statement was modified to reflect this fact.
Reason #2
With an uncountable number of degree specifications and modifications, I removed them all to simply state that any provider whose scope of practice requires physician oversight…well that requirement should be in force for orthobiologics.
The underlying ethical concern is that regardless of degree and training….clinicians should only do what they are properly trained in. To provide a fully informed consent for a procedure, patients need to talk to a clinician who is fully informed on the procedure being considered!
